Buenos Aires is passion. chaos. excitement. Are you ready for your urban adventure? By: Emily Dee Grant |
Cosas que los argentinos dicen (por un gringo)
Chistoso, no?
Argentina was calling me, so this year I took my two-week vacation to the city and country I knew would inspire me. Since I spent a good chunk of the trip behind the lens of my tiny IPhone camera, the best way to share my experience is through photos. This it what comes to mind when I think of Argentina: (See below)

Rich Flavors:
To know any culture, one must drink and eat all that is traditional. We tried the typical asado and milanesa napolitana, while not a day passed without enjoying a coffee, alfajor and glass of Malbec wine.

Historical adventures:
To contrast the bustling city experience we also visited small towns to learn the history of the region prior to colonization. On our road trip we met locals who passionately told the stories of their Mapuche, Gaurani and Huarpe ancestors

Buenos Aires: Latin America with a European touch
The beautiful tree-lined streets of Buenos Aires are full of charming cafés, bookstores, theaters, plazas, parks, and tango bars. Palermo is where we spent most of our time, and it felt like home.

Breathtaking Landscapes
The advantage of driving a car through an unknown territory is stumbling across natural beauty as we did in the Mendoza region, reaching high up into the snow-capped Andes mountains

Vibrant colors
From the famous casitas in La Boca to buildings in small mountain towns, bright colors bring life to even the oldest and shabbiest of structures

This trip can be summarized with a quote off a napkin from a café in Buenos Aires:
“Come, bebe, ama,
Despacio, muy despacio..
Hace que tu vida dure mas!”

The host is Argentine, but the music is from all over Latin America and Spain. Everything from Manu Chao in Spain (reggae/chill) to La Vida Boheme in Venezuela (alternative rock). Absolutely excellent mix!
pnkplkdots asked: Where r u from? I'm leaving for Buenos Aires this Thursday! :)
I’m originally from Virginia, but I am currently in Pittsburgh. But, I spent a year in Argentina from 2010-2011, studying abroad and having an adventure. If there is something I haven’t covered in my blog, please ask away!
